Thanksgiving Menu 1: Traditional Recipes

Thanksgiving dishes are is nostalgic and classic for a reason! Just because you’re vegan (or entertaining plant-based eaters) doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the same dishes you grew up with. See the menu below for a roundup of my favorites:
*Note: if you’re feeling a little experimental, mix and match some of the recipes with Thanksgiving Menu 2 below!
- Homemade Vegan Holiday Roast or Vegan Lentil Loaf
- Tahini Gravy or Mushroom Gravy
- Roasted Vegetable Casserole or Fall Farro Salad
- Classic Stuffing or Mushroom Stuffing
- Cranberry Sauce
- Vegan Mac & Cheese
- Sweet Potato Casserole
- Green Bean Casserole
- Mashed Potatoes
- Dessert: Sweet Potato Pie or Apple Crumble
Thanksgiving Menu 2: Modern Twists

We all know that the best Thanksgiving recipes are the sides 😉 So why not embrace it with this “classic with a twist” menu? It still includes favorites like mushroom stuffing and mac & cheese, but the green bean and sweet potato casseroles get a lighter makeover.
*Note: if you still want to make a few classic recipes, swap some of these suggested dished with the ones from Thanksgiving Menu 1 above!
- Mushroom Puff Pastry Pinwheels
- Butternut Squash Apple Soup
- Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad or Fall Farro Salad
- Stuffed Acorn Squash or Mushroom Pot Pie
- Mushroom Stuffing
- Pumpkin Mac & Cheese
- Sweet Potato Gratin
- Garlic Green Beans
- Dijon Garlic Potatoes
- Dessert: Vegan Apple Turnovers or Cranberry Orange Crumble Bars
Thanksgiving Menu 3: Intimate Gatherings

Whether you’re having a solo dinner, hanging out with a partner or friend, or visiting someone else’s home and can only bring one dish, this small menu has got you covered!
Cooking 10+ dishes for a small amount of people is a lot of work, so I like to simplify things and focus on one main dish and one dessert. I also pair the main with a few simple and easy sides, which makes the meal seem abundant without a ton of extra effort:
- Stuffed Acorn Squash with Mushrooms or Pumpkin Risotto
- Garlic Green Beans
- Dijon Garlic Potatoes or Mashed Potatoes or Easy Vegan Cornbread
- Dessert: Apple Crumble (cut the recipe in half and bake in a loaf pan if you don’t want leftovers!)
One final note: whether this is your first vegan thanksgiving or your 50th, remember to enjoy yourself. While food is great, this holiday is more about spending time with loved ones. It can certainly hard to be “that vegan”, but my advice? Come with a big smile, let the little things go, and don’t forget to bring a plant-based dish to wow your crowd 🙂
